What is Home Staging?

Home staging by an ASP® certified Stager is converting a home into a house that can be merchandised as a product.  It is all about preparing the house for sale so that the client prospers.  Staging is not decorating.  Decorating is a way to personalize your living space, announcing who you are and what you like.  Staging is the opposite.  It is the act of depersonalizing, taking the home out of the house without leaving it sterile or uninviting.  ASP® Staging removes distractions so that potential buyers focus on the space, not what is in the space.  It is the process of organizing any home inside and out so that buyers can see what they are getting and can, after a simple walk-through, start to imagine their family living inside those walls.  If your house is vacant, home staging brings things into the house to give each space a warm and inviting purpose so potential buyers can get a more accurate feel for the size of the space they would be moving into.
